Manchester City defender hints at January exit

Eliaquim Mangala has revealed he could seek a move away from Manchester City in January in order to find regular first team football.

The 26-year-old has barely featured under Pep Guardiola this season and seemingly has no future at the club with the City boss keen to sign a new centre-back.

Mangala would have been allowed to leave the Etihad over the summer had Guardiola been successful in his attempts to sign a new fourth centre-back.

The France international spent last season on loan at Valencia and has now conceded another move away could be on the cards in the New Year.

“I’m very realistic. I know everything can happen. I am here today,” Mangala told The Sun. “Whether I will be here in two months, next summer, one year, you never know. The only thing you can do is to be focused on what I can control.

“At the moment I am in the squad, I am at this club. I am going to work, to help my team-mates, whether I am playing or not.”

Mangala has been limited to three starts all season for City, while he has only featured in 78 minutes of Premier League action this term.
