Monaco have completed a deal to sign Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea, the Ligue 1 side have announced.
Fabregas had entered the final six months of his Chelsea contract and the Blues were unwilling to match his demands.
The former Spain international has now secured a lucrative move to Monaco where he will receive a big signing-on fee.
Fabregas agreed his move last weekend but there was a delay as Chelsea looked to finalise his replacement.
There has been no announcement on who will take Fabregas’ place in the squad but Chelsea have been heavily linked with Cagliari youngster Nicolo Barella and Argentina international Leandro Paredes.
Fabregas has put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal with Monaco and reunites with manager Thierry Henry, having spent several years as his Arsenal teammate.
Fabregas dropped completely out of favour under Maurizio Sarri this season and managed just 176 minutes of playing time in the Premier League.
The 31-year-old did feature more prominently in the Europa League, however, and averages more passes per 90 (2+ apps) than any other player in the competition this season (129).
