Manchester United and Liverpool to battle for PSV youngster

Manchester United and Liverpool are keeping tabs on young winger Steven Bergwijn, according to Dutch publication De Telegraaf.

The 21-year-old has gained a WhoScored rating of 8.12, the third best in the Eredivise this term, having played a key role in PSV’s 100% start to the season.

A return of four goals and four assists has seen Bergwijn catch the attention of the Premier League pair, with the young winger earning his first senior international cap for the Netherlands during the recent break.

Torino and Bordeaux both saw bids for Bergwijn rejected over the summer and his flying start to the season campaign will have seen his value soar.

United boss Jose Mourinho is keen to add another winger to his side, while Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp would benefit from the addition of another pacey wideman to his current Reds team.

Bergwijn, who put pen to paper on a new PSV deal in June, which runs until 2022, has admitted he is in no rush to leave the Dutch champions, recently stating: "I am not concerned with big clubs or with rumours about interest.

“I have remained with PSV this summer because I want to continue the line here to the end of the season."

Bergwijn has completed more dribbles (26) than any other player in the Eredivisie this term, reinforcing a statistically calculated WhoScored strength of ‘dribbling’.
