The agent of Thiago Motta has revealed the midfielder will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season when his current deal expires.
Motta, 34, signed a new contract extension in 2015 to keep him with the Ligue 1 champions until the end of this season.
The Brazilian-born Italy international has spent the last four years with PSG after joining from Inter in 2012 and has spent that time as a regular at the heart of their midfield, although this will be his last season with the club.
“Concerning PSG, the end of his contract is nearing and I don’t think he will extend,” Alessandro Canovi told RadioGoal24, via Get French Football. “Will he return to Serie A? It depends, but I do not think that he will come back to this league.
“We are looking for other solutions, in Italy, he has already done it all, he has won the league several times and he did the treble with Inter. At the age of 34 you live day by day, we are waiting for an exciting project but it is still very early.”
The experienced midfielder has reportedly struggled to come to terms with what is being asked of him by new PSG manager Unai Emery and an exit would now certainly now seem on the cards at the end of the season.
Despite his struggles, Motta has still featured in 11 league games this season and averages more passes per game than any other player in Ligue 1 (91.5).
