Chelsea to make £20m January bid for Bayer Leverkusen youngster

 

Chelsea have earmarked Leon Bailey as a top January target and will bid £20m for the Bayer Leverkusen starlet, claims The Sun.

 

Antonio Conte’s side have been monitoring Bailey’s progress over the last 18 months and scouted him several times while he was at Genk last season.

 

An impressive Europa League campaign convinced Leverkusen to sign Bailey at the start of the year but the Bundesliga side have been made to wait until this season to see the best of the 20-year-old.

 

Bailey has made a solid start to the campaign and now Chelsea are ready to ramp up their interest with a £20m bid for the young forward in January.

The Leverkusen No.9 has scored four goals and registered two assists in 11 Bundesliga matches this season, garnering the club’s highest WhoScored rating in the process (7.34).

 

Not only that, but of Bundesliga players that have made at least 10 appearances this season, only three complete more crosses per 90 than Bailey (2.9).
