Fiorentina propose surprise swap deal to Barcelona

Fiorentina have refused to meet Barcelona’s €8m (£6.7m) valuation of Cristian Tello and want to use Mario Gomez as a makeweight to make a deal happen, claims Spanish outlet SPORT.

Gomez, 31, has returned to Fiorentina after his loan spell with Turkish champions Besiktas came to an end at the start of the summer.

Fiorentina have no intention of keeping the Germany international this summer and are hopeful that Barcelona’s troubled search for a new fourth striker will convince them to sign the experienced striker.

Tello, 24, spent last season on loan with Fiorentina and has agreed to the terms proposed by the Viola, but Barcelona are not prepared to match Gomez’s wage demands.

Gomez scored at least six more goals than any other player in the Turkish Super Lig last season (26).
