Ex-Tottenham boss free to embark on new challenge

A host of teams will be scrambling to secure the services of former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino after his gardening leave came to an end, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The Argentine was relieved of his duties with the north London side back in November with the club struggling in 14th in the Premier League and faltering in the Champions League.

Pochettino has been out of work following his dismissal, but has been linked with a number of high profile positions across Europe, including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and AC Milan.

Premier League side Newcastle are also interested in appointing Pochettino as Steve Bruce's replacement at St. James' Park should the Saudi-led £300m takeover be completed.

And after Pochettino's gardening leave came to an end today, a day after the Premier League season was supposed to have officially finished, the 48-year-old can now talk to potential suitors.

Pochettino won a huge number of admirers for his fine work as Spurs boss, which included a club-record second placed Premier League finish in 2016/17 and a Champions League runners' up medal last year.

Pochettino has previously expressed his desire to manage Spurs again in the future, but it remains to be seen whether he will continue plying his trade in the Premier League or abroad.
