Real Madrid are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen left-back Wendell in the summer as they look to bolster the left side of their defence, according to ESPN Brazil, via AS.
Nacho, Danilo and Dani Carvajal have all been deployed at left-back but each have produced unconvincing results in Marcelo’s absence, with Madrid keen to add cover for the Brazil international for the next campaign.
After extensive scouting across the continent, Madrid have reportedly set their sights on signing Wendell, who has been valued at €35m (£27) by Leverkusen.
Los Blancos can expect competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the Leverkusen defender following suggestions Laurent Blanc’s side have already made contact with the 22-year-old’s representatives.
Since the start of the season, Wendell has completed at least 43 more tackles and interceptions than any over Leverkusen player in the Bundesliga (154).
