Crystal Palace get deal done for Liverpool defender

Crystal Palace have announced they have signed Liverpool outcast Mamadou Sakho on loan until the end of the season.

Sakho, 26, hasn’t played for Liverpool this season after falling out with manager Jurgen Klopp towards the end of the last campaign after following up a failed drug’s test by breaching the club’s code of conduct.

Palace fended off interest from a number of their Premier League rivals to land Sakho, although a deal looked in doubt as they baulked on Liverpool’s £20m asking price to get Sakho on a permanent basis.

Sam Allardyce’s side also signed defensive midfielder Luka Milivojevic from Greek giants Olympiacos in a deal worth £11m to help bolster their chances of beating the drop this season.

Despite not playing for Liverpool since April, only one Liverpool player has won possession in the defensive third more times in the last four Premier League campaigns than Sakho (265).
