Man City boss to turn to Inter star as long-term striker solution

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is to oversee a £200m summer spending splurge, with a move for Inter striker Romelu Lukaku a possibility this year, reports The Telegraph. 

City are expected to release the purse strings once more as they seek to revamp an ageing squad, with a long-term striker a priority for Guardiola. 

Sergio Aguero's contract expires in the summer and there are a host of interested parties that can make their move for the prolific Argentine. 

Guardiola also doesn't seem to completely trust youngster Gabriel Jesus, and it means a new frontman is on the agenda for the big spending Manchester giants. 

Lukaku has thrived since departing Manchester United for Inter 18 months ago, netting 35 times in 53 league outings for the Serie A outfit. 

Inter would be reluctant to allow their top scorer to depart on the cheap at the end of the season and it would take a huge offer to convince the Nerazzuri to sell the Belgian hitman. 

However, Inter have been linked with a move for Aguero, and his possible arrival in Milan would ease any potential Lukaku departure. 

Lukaku, 27, was unable to get on the scoresheet as Inter defeated rivals Juventus in Sunday's Derby d'italia, but he still has 12 league goals to his name in 2020/21; only Cristiano Ronaldo (15) has more.
