Arsenal edge closer to signing of Real Madrid and Spain star

According to The Mirror Arsenal are set to beat North London rivals Tottenham to the signing of Real Madrid star Dani Ceballos.

The Spaniard recently starred for the U21 national team on route to the European championship title but Real Madrid are still willing to allow the midfielder to leave, albeit on a temporary basis.

Should Arsenal agree a fee to loan the youngster for a season there is little chance that the club will have a deal in place to sign the 22-year-old permanently next summer.

The Gunners have already held lengthy talks with the former Real Betis star’s representatives and are believed to be confident of getting their man.

Ceballos started 13 of 23 league appearances last season, scoring three times and completing 92.6 per cent of his passes, as well as 2.3 tackles per 90 minutes.

Unai Emery is set to add William Saliba to his ranks early next week, though the Frenchman will be heading back to Saint-Etienne on a season-long loan himself.
