Manchester City have confirmed the arrival of Juventus defender Joao Cancelo with Danilo moving in the opposite direction.
The Premier League champions have been pursuing Cancelo’s signature since the start of the summer and have got a deal over the line one day before the transfer window for English clubs shuts.
Pep Guardiola’s side have reportedly paid £25.7m for Cancelo, who has penned a six-year deal with City, with Danilo signing for Juventus.
Cancelo is City’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Rodrigo from Atletico Madrid and Angelino from PSV.
Cancelo will provide competition for places with Kyle Walker, who was deemed a weak point in City’s team last season.
The Portugal international spent just one season at Juventus following only 12 months at Inter and will now hope to have found a long-term home at City.
Cancelo finished last season in the WhoScored Team of the Season in Serie A (7.20 rating), while only two players averaged more dribbles per game than the 25-year-old (2.4).
