Aston Villa have lodged a €5m (£4.2m) bid for Hellas Verona goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, via HITC.
Roberto Di Matteo has already added Bournemouth captain Tommy Elphick to his squad for the Championship next season and the new Villa manager is keen to sign a new goalkeeper following Brad Guzan’s underwhelming performances last season.
Gollini, 21, emerged as Verona’s first choice goalkeeper last season and endured a torrid time between the sticks for the side that finished Serie A bottom.
Of goalkeepers that made at least 10 appearances in Serie A last season, only Ciprian Tatarusanu (61.8%) boasted a worse save success than Gollini (62.2%).
