Manchester City want Bayern Munich wantaway

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is eyeing a raid on former club Bayern Munich and wants to reunite with versatile defender Joshua Kimmich, reports The Sun.

Kimmich put a number of top European clubs on red alert earlier in the month after he suggested he could leave the Bundesliga giants at the end of the season in search of regular first team football.

The Germany international came on leap and bounds under Guardiola at the Allianz Arena towards the end of last season but has found game time harder to come by under Carlo Ancelotti this time around.

Guardiola is desperate to add versatile players that can carry out his philosophy to his City squad in the summer and is now hoping to secure the £40m-rated 22-year-old when the transfer window opens in July.

Kimmich, who can play in midfield and across the back four, has only started 10 games for Bayern this season but has actually proven handy in front of goal, with four goals to his name in the league. In fact, only Robert Lewandowksi (21) and Arjen Robben (8) have scored more goals for Bayern in the league this season.
