Bayern star bats away City links

Manuel Neuer has become the latest Bayern Munich player to knock back suggestions he could follow Pep Guardiola to Manchester City in the summer.

The Bayern head coach will replace Manuel Pellegrini as City manager at the end of the season and there have been reports suggesting numerous Bayern players could follow the Spaniard to the Premier League.

Neuer, 29, is widely regarded as the best goalkeeper in the world and there had been reports stating Guardiola was hopeful of bringing him to the Etihad to replace current No.1 Joe Hart.

However, the Germany international, who still has three years left to run on his current deal, is content with life at Bayern.

“I am not affected by it predominately because I like to play in the Bundesliga,” Neuer is quoted as saying by ESPN. “I know which teams play here and what type of football is played. I like the way our team plays very much.

“I’ve still got a long-term contract, and everything is OK. It all fits.”

Since joining Bayern from Schalke in 2011, only Gianluigi Buffon (90) has kept more clean sheets across Europe's top five leagues than Neuer (86); Hart third (75).
