Manchester United are interested in signing Benfica goalkeeper Ederson if they fail to prevent David De Gea from joining Real Madrid this summer, reports the Manchester Evening News.
De Gea is back on Madrid’s radar and Zinedine Zidane’s side are expected to firm up their interest at the end of the season two years on from their failed move for the Spaniard.
The 26-year-old will not feature in United’s two remaining matches of the season fuelling speculation that he has played his final game for the club and Jose Mourinho’s side are already exploring their options to ensure they can act swiftly to sign a successor if needed.
Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak is reportedly a top transfer target but it remains to be seen whether Mourinho’s side would be willing to match his €100m release clause, especially as they are poised to trigger the €100m buy-out clause in the contract of his teammate, Antoine Griezmann.
Oblak isn’t the only goalkeeper on United’s radar and Mourinho could turn to Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson, who has previously been linked with Manchester City this season. Only Iker Casillas (19) has kept more clean sheets in the Portuguese Liga NOS this season than Ederson (17).
