Arsenal attacker agrees deal to double wages amidst European interest

Alex Iwobi has reportedly agreed terms on a new deal at Arsenal that will expire in 2023, according to The Sun.

The youngster will sign the contract once the squad returns from its pre-season trip to the Far East, culminating in a meeting with new manager Unai Emery’s former employers PSG this Saturday.

The 22-year-old had attracted interest from the likes of Lazio and AC Milan in Serie A, along with Everton, but is set to commit his long-term future to the Gunners in the coming days.

The reports suggest that Nigeria international Iwobi, who started 22 of 26 league appearances last season, will earn around £70,000 per week, even if he is still expected to play in a rotation policy next season.

The academy graduate had a direct hand in eight Premier League goals last season (three goals, five assists), with no current Arsenal player completing more dribbles than Iwobi last season (36).

He set to become the latest player to agree a new deal at the Emirates since Arsene Wenger’s departure, following in the footsteps of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Granit Xhaka and Calum Chambers.
