Chelsea star yet to pen new deal with Real Madrid lurking

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is yet to pen a new deal at the club amidst reports that Real Madrid could return for the Belgian star, reports Marca.

The La Liga and European champions have been heavily linked with a move for Courtois in recent months, while the shotstopper has made no secret of a desire to one day return to Madrid.

The 25-year-old spent three years in the Spanish capital during a loan stint with Atletico Madrid between 2011 and 2014, with Diego Simeone keen to retain his services beyond his loan stint.

Chelsea rejected Atletico’s advances, with Courtois now firmly established as the Blues’ number one goalkeeper, though are aware that his current deal runs until 2019.

With a little over 18 months to run on his contract, Chelsea are desperate to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge, but need to convince him to remain in west London soon or run the risk of losing him on a free.

Courtois is happy in Chelsea, but Real Madrid are eager to sign a new goalkeeper to replace Keylor Navas, with Gianluigi Donnarumma another target for Los Blancos, despite the Italian’s decision to pen a new deal earlier in the year.
