Manchester United creator injured

Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard has been left out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for upcoming matches against Croatia and Spain due to injury, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Lingard has missed United’s last two matches and has been carrying an injury first sustained on England duty at the 2018 World Cup.

The 25-year-old has developed into a key player for club and country this year but faces a spell on the sidelines, although the severity of his groin problem remains unknown to the public.

Lingard has made six appearances for United this season but has only managed to complete 90 minutes on one occasion.

Tottenham are also dealing with a number of injuries to players that were involved in the latter stages of the World Cup and Lingard’s problem will concern United’s medical team.

United have a further six players that reached the semi-finals of the tournament and they will desperately hope the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba can avoid injury.

Since August 2016, United have a marginally better win ratio in the Premier League when Lingard has started (57.1%) compared to games he has not featured from the off (53.7%).
