Edinson Cavani has revealed he wants to sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Uruguay international has been in formidable form for PSG this season after being moved centrally in the wake of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s move to Manchester United last summer.
Cavani only has 18 months remained on his existing deal but is reportedly close to extending his stay beyond 2018 and the PSG hitman has confirmed his intention is to remain with Unai Emery’s side.
“My stats are good,” Cavani told Telefoot, via FourFourTwo. “But this is not what concerns me most, What interests me is that PSG can win and be champions.
“I want to stay in Paris, I am doing very well here and I love this city so I think all the conditions will be there to extend. I had a meeting with the president and I hope that it will happen.”
Cavani has spent the last four years with PSG after making a high profile move from Napoli in 2013 but only now are the Ligue 1 giants seeing the best from the 29-year-old, who had been forced to accommodate for Ibrahimovic prior to this season.
In fact, Cavani has scored at least two more goals than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues this season (18).
