West Ham consider loan move for United midfielder

West Ham United are weighing up a loan move to sign Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini when the January transfer window opens, reports The London Evening Standard.

The Hammers have made a disastrous start to the campaign and the West Ham board are desperate to avoid relegation during the first season in their new stadium, with Slaven Bilic already planning for the transfer market.

Bilic has earmarked the need to add a physical presence to his team after the way they have been steamrolled by opposition at times this season, like the 5-1 defeat to Arsenal at the weekend, and is hopeful of stealing Fellaini away from United.

The Belgium international’s future at United has been in doubt ever since he first joined from Everton in 2013 and the manner in which he cost his side the win against his former club at the weekend is likely to have pushed him closer to an exit, with West Ham hopeful of taking advantage of the situation.

Since the 2009/10 campaign Fellaini has committed more fouls than any other player in the Premier League (428).
