Arsenal in pole position to sign Real Madrid outcast Odegaard

Arsenal have moved to the front of the queue to land Real Madrid creator Martin Odegaard on loan for the remainder of the season, claims Diario Vasco.

Odegeaard will be allowed to leave Madrid on loan this month after failing to force his way into Zinedine Zidane's plans this season.

A return to Real Sociedad was considered Odegaard's most likely destination but Madrid have ruled out that option.

Madrid remarkably now see Real Sociedad as a potential rival for a Champions League position and do not want to strengthen them.

Arsenal are not the only side across Europe chasing Odegaard's signature but the Gunners are reportedly now favourites to land the talented creative midfielder.

Mikel Arteta is desperate to sign a new No.10 this month to help ease the burden on Emile Smith Rowe.

Arsenal are now working on brining Odegaard to the Emirates after successfully shifting the likes of Sokratis, Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac from the club.

Only two players registered more key passes per game than Odegaard (2) in La Liga last season but he has managed just five minutes of playing time across Madrid's last eight league games.
