West Ham failed with deadline day move for former Chelsea forward
West Ham missed the opportunity to sign former Chelsea striker Andre Schurrle, reports The Sun.
The Borussia Dortmund winger was keen on a return to the Premier League just two years after leaving Chelsea and a season-long loan deal was reportedly proposed to West Ham.
Slaven Bilic’s side would also have had an option to make the switch permanent in a deal worth £26m at the end of the season but the Hammers missed the boat after focusing on signing Sporting midfielder William Carvalho.
West Ham ended up failing to sign either player and only managed to get their first league win of the season on Monday after beating Huddersfield 2-0 at the London Stadium.
Schurrle is currently injured and is yet to feature for Dortmund this season. The Germany international only managed to start eight matches in the league last term, making a further seven appearances from the bench.
