Roma are monitoring Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez with a view to making a January swoop, reports Corriere dello Sport, via Football Italia.
Gimenez, who has also been linked with a January move to Inter, will only have six months of his existing deal remaining at the start of next year and Roma are interested in striking a cut price deal.
The 22-year-old has struggled to establish himself as a first team regular for Diego Simeone since the start of last season and will be free to discuss a move away with foreign clubs in January.
Roma’s sporting director, Monchi, is reportedly a big fan of the Uruguay international and is hopeful of landing Gimenez in the next two transfer windows.
Since the start of last season, Atletico have a superior win ratio in the league without Gimenez (65.4%) in the starting XI compared to when he has been included in the starting XI (50%).
