Liverpool crock sent for scan on foot

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge could be set for another spell on the sidelines after Jurgen Klopp revealed he would undergo a scan on a foot problem.

Sturridge, 26, was expected to feature in their Europa League clash with Bordeaux on Thursday but was absent from the squad after suffering another set back in his return to first-team action.

The England international has only featured in three league fixtures this season due to reoccurring fitness problems and Klopp admits he doesn’t know the severity of his latest setback.

“I can’t say so much about this [injury],” Klopp told BT Sport prior to their 2-1 win over Bordeaux.

“We trained this morning, we went to the hotel, he was with us and then he had to leave to have a scan. I cannot say more, we have to wait for the results.”

The Liverpool striker has not played the full 90-minutes in consecutive matches since March and there will come a point when the Reds will have to move on from the striker with his injury problems meaning he has only seven matches in this calendar year.
