France international could still join Juventus in January, says agent

Blaise Matuidi’s agent Mino Raiola has lifted the lid on the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder’s failed move to Juventus in the summer but insists it could still go through in January.

The France international was on the verge of joining Juventus in the summer before the move collapsed; leading to speculation the box-to-box midfielder could extend his stay with the Ligue 1 champions.

However, Raiola insists the deal broke down because the PSG president blocked the deal and revealed Matuidi is not going to renew with Unai Emery’s side opening the door to a January move.

“[Juventus’ sporting director] Fabio Paratici’s still mad at me, but it’s not my fault,” Raiola told Rai Sport, via Football Italia. “We dealt at length, but then the Emir of PSG [Nasser Al-Khelaifi] intervened and blocked the deal.

“Paratici, however, doesn’t have to get upset because it’s not true that we’re discussing the renewal of his contract with PSG. It’s not easy to take players away from PSG [in January], but we’ll see.”

Since August 2009 only three players have completed more interceptions in Ligue 1 than Matuidi (580).
