Liverpool win race to sign prodigious Championship left-back

Liverpool have won the race to sign Fulham star Ryan Sessegnon, according to Yahoo! Sport.

The teenage left-back has been attracting hefty interest from a number of Premier League clubs following his breakout season for the Cottagers.

Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham had all been linked with a move for the 16-year-old this season, but it’s reported that Liverpool have won the race to secure his services.

The Reds have been in the market for a new left-back this term, with Alberto Moreno faltering in defence and while James Milner has impressed, manager Jurgen Klopp has been keen to bring in a specialist in the position.

It remains to be seen whether Fulham will demand Sessegnon remain on loan at Craven Cottage, with he notching four goals in 19 Championship appearances this season, including two in the recent 3-1 win at Newcastle.

His attacking style of play has drawn comparisons to Gareth Bale at the same age, with Liverpool eyeing Sessegnon as a long-term solution to their left-back problems.
