Manchester City have made an improved offer of £47m for Wolfsburg attacking midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, according to Sky Sports News.
The bid is believed to be an initial £40m plus £7m of add-ons for one of the most sought after midfielders in Europe and comes just days after City's first offer of £35m was rejected.
Wolfsburg have made it clear of their intentions to keep the ex-Chelsea midfielder, but they could struggle after the club's sporting director Klaus Allofs revealed De Bruyne's head has been turned by the speculation.
“I think some other clubs have definitely turned Kevin’s head,” Allofs told Kicker magazine. “Some huge figures are doing the rounds and I can understand why Kevin is leaving everything open.
“He’s got to listen to the offers. I can’t expect from him that he doesn’t even want to entertain them. If he was only contracted to us until 2017, then yes, it would be different. But let’s be honest about it – it’s highly unlikely that he’ll stay with us right up until 2019.
Manuel Pellegrini’s interest in De Bruyne is understandable following an outstanding season that saw the Belgium international register more assists than any other player across Europe’s top five leagues last season (20).
