Bundesliga hitman set to secure big money move to China
Anthony Modeste is edging closer to a move to the Chinese Super League with Tianjin Quanjin, according to Bild.
The 29-year-old enjoyed a prolific season last time out in the Bundesliga, scoring 25 goals to help Cologne to a fifth-placed finish and subsequent Europa League qualification.
Nevertheless, the former Blackburn striker seemingly has hit heart set on a move to China, with personal terms agreed on a deal that would run until 2021 and earn the Frenchman €35m net.
The clubs are yet to agree a fee but a value between 35 and 40 million euros is thought to be where the two parties will meet after Tianjin identified Modeste as a cheaper alternative to reported target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gabonese striker (31) and Robert Lewandowski (30) were the only players to score more than the Cologne man in the top-flight last season, who has scored 59 Bundesliga goals since arriving in Germany in 2013.
