Alexandre Lacazette has revealed he will review his future at the end of the season but will not leave Lyon for the sake of leaving.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Lyon this season after enjoying another outstanding campaign in front of goal with the likes of Arsenal and Atletico Madrid reportedly chasing his signature.
Lyon will be reluctant to lose their best player but would be foolish to turn down the chance to sell a player that has less than two years remaining on his existing deal for £60m.
Lacazette hasn’t added to his 10 France caps since November 2015 and the Lyon ace insists that next summer’s World Cup in Russia will not influence whether he stays or leaves Bruno Genesio’s side this summer.
“I would have liked to do more to be higher in the league,” Get French Football quotes Lacazette as saying.
“I want to do everything I can to score two more goals next match [to take me to 100 Ligue 1 goals], during this season, I progressed in front of goal and I helped my colleagues better with defensive work.
“We will see for my future after the final match. One can always see what is going on elsewhere, but I will not leave for the sake of leaving. Will I be at the World Cup? It is not a criteria that will affect any decision I make on my future. I would prefer to think about where I will enjoy myself and my career."
Lacazette has scored 20+ goals for three straight seasons in Ligue 1 and needs just two goals from Lyon’s final match of the season at home to Nice in order to set a new individual record for goals in a single league campaign (28).
