It’s a dream to play for Manchester United, says Real Madrid target
David de Gea has handed Manchester United with a huge boost after revealing it is a dream to play for the Premier League giants.
The Spain international has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in two of the last three years but Jose Mourinho’s side have managed to hang on to their No.1 goalkeeper.
De Gea is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world and is likely to be continually linked with a move to Madrid in the future, but the 26-year-old insists he is living a dream by playing at Old Trafford.
“Of course, you feel really proud when people think this [one of the best goalkeepers] about you,” he told MUTV, via The Daily Telegraph. “It’s really good, but I like to keep my focus, keep working hard and doing my best.
“To be fair, when you are really young, you don’t think about the future too much, you just want to play with your friends.
“When you get older, you start to dream about being there, about being at a top team, so of course it’s a dream to be at a team like Manchester United.”
United have made a tremendous start to the league and are currently top after winning each of their opening three matches without conceding a single goal.
In fact, De Gea has kept at least three more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the last three Premier League campaigns (32).
