Real Madrid readying club record offer for new striker this summer

Real Madrid are preparing a sensational £85m bid for Monaco wonderkid Kylian Mbappe as they attempt to beat the likes of Barcelona and Manchester United to his signature, according to L’Equipe.

The striker has been a revelation this season, emerging as the hottest prospect in European football to play a vital role in both a league and Champions League assault for his side.

At just 18 years of age he has already notched up 23 goals in all competitions this season, including five in the knockout stages of the Champions League to inspire Leonardo Jardim’s side to a semi-final with Juventus. A tally of 13 in the league is comfortably the most of any teenager across Europe.

It’s little wonder as a result that the continent’s top teams are all thought to be vying for his services, though reports in France have suggested that Mbappe will stay in the principality for at least one more season.

A world record bid could change that assumption though, and given his current form, and in high pressure circumstances at that, such an offer doesn’t seem out of the question.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is believed to be keen to add to his options in attack, with Benzema underwhelming in the league this season and Alvaro Morata tipped to leave the club in the summer.
