Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano has agreed a three-year deal with Juventus, according to Spanish newspaper SPORT, via The Daily Mirror.
Mascherano’s arrival from Liverpool in 2010 raised eyebrows but the Argentina international has developed into a crucial player for the La Liga champions and his exit would be a huge blow to Luis Enrique’s ambitions next season.
Barcelona are already on the market to sign a new central defender but the likes of Marquinhos, John Stones and Sidnei were meant to come in as competition for Gerard Pique and Mascherano.
Paris Saint-Germain have already blocked Barcelona’s move for Marquinhos this summer but they now may be forced to lodge an offer PSG cannot refuse should they lose as an important cog to their team as Mascherano.
Mascherano has been sent off more times than any other Barcelona player in the league since August 2012 (3).
