Borussia Dortmund set Barcelona deadline for Dembele deal
Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans Joachim Watzke has set Barcelona a two-week deadline in order to complete a deal for Ousmane Dembele.
The Spanish giants want to use some of the £193m they made from Neymar’s departure to sign Dembele but are struggling to agree a fee with Dortmund.
Dembele didn’t show up for training last week in a bid to accelerate a move to Barcelona and has been suspended indefinitely by the club as a result.
Peter Bosz’s side are hopeful of a swift resolution to Dembele’s future and have told Barcelona to get a deal done in the next two weeks having already turned down £90m for the 20-year-old.
“The time horizon is enough for two games,” Watzke told Kicker, via The Daily Mail.
Dembele only joined Dortmund 12 months ago for a fee in the region of £12m and the German giants are now set for a huge payday on the France international.
Barcelona have been told they will need to pay in excess of £100m to prise Dembele away from the club, while former club Rennes are also set to receive a percentage of any sale due to the terms in their agreement with Bosz’s side from last summer.
Dembele only managed to scored six goals in the Bundesliga last season, but did register 12 assists. In fact, only Emil Forsberg (19) provided more assists.
Barcelona looks a bit pathetic, selling their starplayer but too greedy to buy Dembele one of the biggest prospects in Europe football. He is already delivering at the top level for Dortmund, playing for Barcelona will make it even easier for him when Messi is on the pitch. And he's only 20 years old!!
