Chelsea face missing out on midfielder with Manchester United looming
Chelsea could be about to miss out on another top summer target, with Manchester United considering a move for Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko, reports the Sun.
United swooped to sign Romelu Lukaku on Saturday morning when the Blues were leading the race to secure his services.
Chelsea have been the favourites to sign Bakayoko for some time now, but Monaco are growing weary with their indecisiveness and failure to close out the deal.
The France international is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, yet Chelsea run the risk of missing out on Bakayoko as United look to improve their midfield options.
A deal taking Nemanja Matic to United from Chelsea had supposedly been struck earlier this summer, though that transfer looks to be out of the question now following United’s signing of Lukaku.
Monaco are looking to sell Bakayoko as quickly as possible, which has seen United enter the race to secure the 22-year-old’s services.
A failure to land Bakayoko would go some way to frustrating Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte, with the Italian thought to be considering his future at Stamford Bridge due to the club’s slow movements in the transfer market.
However, it’s thought that a deal to sign Alex Sandro from Juventus is close, which will come as a boost to Conte and Chelsea.
