Liverpool have £142m to spend on a new creative player this month but will not move for Leicester star Riyad Mahrez, reports the Press Association.
Philippe Coutinho is on the brink of securing his dream move to Barcelona and Jurgen Klopp will dip into the transfer market for the second time this month to replace the Brazilian.
Riyad Mahrez is one of the players that has been linked with a move to Anfield, but it has now been reported that Liverpool have actually contacted Leicester directly to rubbish those suggestions.
The Algeria international failed to secure a move away from Leicester in the summer but has been immense for the Foxes this season and Claude Puel’s side may find it difficult to keep him this month.
Mahrez has played a direct hand in 14 goals in 22 league appearances for Leicester this season (seven goals, seven assists), which is already five more than he managed across the whole of the last campaign.
