Roma have announced they have signed Feyenoord right-back Rick Karsdorp in a deal worth an initial €14m (£12.3m) that could increase by a further €5m (£4.4m) based on performance-related add-ons.
The Serie A giants have been heavily linked with a move for the 22-year-old Feyenoord defender since they announced Monchi as their new sporting director at the end of April.
Karsdorp has spent his entire career with Feyenoord but has now signed a five-year deal with Roma that will run until June 2022.
“Coming to AS Roma is a great step forward for me,” Karsdorp told the club’s official website. “I come here with a great desire and enthusiasm to play and to realise my dreams. I know I still have a lot of room to improve and I hope to do that here.”

The Netherlands international is the second player signed under Monchi and, curiously, both have been recruited from Eredivisie following the arrival of Hector Moreno from PSV earlier this month.
In the last two Eredivisie seasons Karsdorp has registered the most assists from open play of all defenders (13).
