Gradel out for six months

Bournemouth have been dealt a huge set-back in their bid to beat relegation after receiving news their £7m summer signing Max Gradel will miss the next six months through injury.

Gradel, 27, was forced off during their 1-1 draw with Leicester City at the weekend and scans have revealed the winger will now require surgery after rupturing his cruciate ligament.

There could still be worse news for Eddie Howe’s team as they wait to discover the extent of club-record signing Tyrone Mings’ knee injury sustained in the same game.

Mings, who joined from Ipswich for £8m this summer, lasted just 11 minutes of his Bournemouth debut before being forced off and could also be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
