Arsenal in pole position for highest rated Spaniard

Arsenal are leading the race to sign Celta Vigo forward Nolito, according to AS.

Nolito, 29, has courted interest from across the continent following a incredible start to the season.

Barcelona are also keen in resigning the Spain international when their transfer embargo is lifted in January, but will face competition from Arsenal for his signature.

Arsene Wenger’s side would only have to pay over £20m for the highest rated Spaniard across Europe’s top five leagues with the relatively low release clause in his current deal making him an extremely attractive option.

Only Luis Suarez (12) and Neymar (14) have played a direct hand in more league goals than Nolito (11) in La Liga this season and, similarly, only Neymar (37) has created more chances in Spain’s top-flight this season than the Celta Vigo star (34).
