Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has emerged as a transfer target for Southampton this summer, reports The Daily Mirror.
Wilshere is out of contract next month and will leave Arsenal if he fails to receive assurances about regular playing time next season.
New Arsenal manager Unai Emery wants to make Aaron Ramsey the star of his midfield, while the Gunners are also closing in on Sampdoria ace Lucas Torreira.
Several Premier League teams are monitoring Wilshere’s future, while the England international also has admirers in Italy.
West Ham and Wolves have already tabled offers for Wilshere, but Southampton have entered the race for the 26-year-old.
Wilshere overcame his injury problems last season to start 29 matches across all competitions.
Interestingly, Arsenal had a better win ratio in the Premier League last season when Wilshere didn’t start (53.8%) compared to when he did feature from the off (41.7%).
