Chelsea star hands in transfer request as interest from abroad increases
Bayern Munich could face competition from fellow Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig for the signature of Callum Hudson-Odoi, The Daily Mail reports.
The teenager has reportedly handed in a transfer request at Chelsea and rejected the Blues offer of a new contract having had his head turned by interest from the German champions.
Bayern are now expected to return with a bid in the region of £40m for the winger, though RB Leipzig are hoping to make Chelsea a more tempting, albeit cheaper offer for the 18-year-old.
Their bid would only be in the region of £20m but crucially would include a buy-back clause that would give Chelsea first refusal on a youngster that they are keen to keep hold of but can’t yet ensure regular first team football.
Whether or not Leipzig would interest a player that has reportedly had his heart set on a switch to Munich remains to be seen, though the it’s a move that certainly benefitted Ademola Lookman last season.
Hudson-Odoi has grown frustrated at a lack of first team opportunities at Stamford Bridge and is yet to start a single league game for the club.
