Everton club record signing out for the season

Yannick Bolasie has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering anterior cruciate ligament damage in Everton’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday, the club has revealed.

The 27-year-old sustained the injury during a tackle from Anthony Martial during the second half of Everton’s draw before requiring medical attention by two of the club’s medical staff.

Bolasie, who joined Everton for a club record £30m in the summer, managed to continue for before being forced off in the 68th minute. The tricky winger was immediately sent for scans and the results have since revealed the club’s worse fears.

The former Crystal Palace star will go under the knife in the coming days before being sidelined for the rest of the season, which means he will also miss the Africa Cup of Nations with Congo in January.

News of Bolasie’s injury couldn’t come at a worse time for Everton manager Ronald Koeman, who is under pressure to turn around their severe slump in form.  The Toffees have only won one of their last 10 matches in all competitions and must now make do without one of their star players.

No player has created more clear-cut chances in the Premier League this season than Bolasie (8).
