Real Madrid are on the verge of signing Santos wonderkid Rodrygo, claims Spanish newspaper AS.
The European giants have been determined to beat Barcelona to the best South American talent since missing out on Neymar’s signature in 2013.
Madrid agreed to pay £39.6m to sign Vinicius Junior from Brazilian side Flamengo 12 months ago when the winger was only 16.
Florentino Perez’s side, who currently do not have a manager, are now on the verge of signing 17-year-old Rodrygo.
Madrid’s head of international football department, Juni Calafat, is currently in Brazil to put the finishing touches on a reported €45m deal for the Santos wonderkid.
In any case, Rodrygo would not be able to move to Madrid until the start of 2018.
Rodrygo has scored five goals in 10 league games for Santos this season and is the only Brasileirao player that has scored a perfect WhoScored rating of 10 thus far.
