Tottenham star injured in season opener

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed Hugo Lloris sustained a hamstring injury in their 1-1 draw with Everton on Saturday.

Lloris, 29, was forced off midway through the first half with Tottenham losing 1-0 after picking up a leg injury after falling awkwardly into the corner of the net when failing to save Ross Barkley's opener.

Pochettino confirmed after the match that the Tottenham captain has indeed suffered a hamstring injury and will be assessed in the coming days to reveal the extent of the damage.

"It is his hamstring," Pochettino told Sky Sports. "We need to assess tomorrow and then we see what happens.

"His injury had an impact on us and they scored very early, and we did not play very well in the first half."

Since August 2012 only two goalkeepers have punched the ball more times in the Premier League than Lloris (117).
