Arsenal target says Bayern agreement is ‘nonsense’

Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka has once again refuted claims that he has agreed to join Bayern Munich once his contract expires next summer, Bild reports.

The German international has been the subject of much speculation this transfer window as he has not agreed on an extension on his current deal in Gelsenkirchen, which expires in 2018.

Bundesliga champions Bayern are still believed to be at the front of the queue for the 22-year-old’s services, but Goretzka has admitted he is yet to decide on his future.

Speaking on his current contract situation, the youngster stated: "I have not set a deadline. The decision depends on many factors and is not easy."

Goretzka also did not rule out a move abroad, saying "It is not that I categorically exclude it." He went on to confirm that “There is no agreement (with Bayern), it is complete nonsense.”

Over the last two seasons in Germany’s top-flight since a return from injury, Goretzka has made 55 appearances, with only Kevin Kampl having won possession in the midfield third more times (220).

Moreover, the box-to-box midfielder was the joint top scorer in this summer’s Confederations Cup, scoring three goals.
