Marseille have announced they have signed Wolfsburg midfielder Luiz Gustavo for a reported €8m (£7m).
Gustavo, 29, has put pen to paper on a four-year deal that will run until 2021 with the French giants and has reportedly become the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
The Brazil international has spent the last decade in Germany having previously played for Bayern Munich and Hoffenheim before spending the last four years with Wolfsburg.
Gustavo, who played at centre-back as well as his usual defensive midfield position last season, is the second new arrival in at Marseille this summer after Rudi Garcia’s side signed Valere Germain from Monaco last month.
Since August 2009 no player has picked up more yellow cards in the Bundesliga than Gustavo (50), while only Mats Hummels (1166) has completed more tackles and interceptions than the experienced Brazilian (1157).
