Chelsea offered Tottenham target

Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek this week, claims The Independent.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is keen to sign a new striker before the transfer window shuts to ease the burden on Tammy Abraham.

Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi are deemed surplus to requirements but Chelsea have struggled to nail down a transfer target so far this month.

Lyon have rebuffed all of Chelsea's attempts to prise Moussa Dembele back to the Premier League to leave the west London outfit scrathing their head.

Lampard has called on the Chelsea board to make transfers this month or risk the club falling out of the top four.

It has now emerged Chelsea have been offered Piatek's services as the answer to their woes in the transfer market.

Piatek is free to leave Milan this month following Zlatan Ibrahimovic's return to the club but they have struggled to find any willing suitors.

Tottenham were heavily linked with a move for the Poland international at the start of the month but have since switched their attention to Real Sociedad's Willian Jose.

Milan are hoping to command £30m for the 24-year-old but their valuation was the main reason why Tottenham have since considered alternatives.

Piatek earned a blockbuster move to Milan 12 months ago after his blistering start to life in Serie A with 13 goals in his first 19 league games for Genoa.

However, he has struggled to replicate the same goalscoring form with Milan with 17 goals in 37 games, including four in 18 appearances this term.
