Chelsea consider shock loan move for Premier League striker

Chelsea are weighing up a shock loan move for West Ham striker Andy Carroll, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Antonio Conte is desperate to strengthen his offensive options after Chelsea failed to score for a third game in a row at the weekend.

Michy Batshuayi will be allowed to leave Chelsea on loan if Conte can find a replacement this month and Carroll has emerged as a potential signing.

Javier Hernandez and Diafra Sakho are also heavily linked with a move away from the London Stadium, which would make it hard for Chelsea to sign Carroll.

The 29-year-old has only started seven Premier League games this season and needs regular playing time in the second half of the campaign to have any chance of making the 2018 World Cup.

Carroll hasn’t featured for England since December 2012 but even a move to Chelsea wouldn’t guarantee regular playing time as Conte eyes him as an alternative to Morata.

The West Ham No.9 has only scored two league goals this season and they came in a 2-1 win over West Brom at the start of 2017.
