Manchester United midfielder set for contract talks amid Tottenham interest

Tottenham are monitoring Jesse Lingard’s future at Manchester United with a view to a summer move as the England international commences contract talks with his boyhood club, reports The Daily Mirror.

Jose Mourinho’s side have no intention of letting Lingard leave the club and are keen to tie down the 24-year-old on a long-term deal but Tottenham are showing an interest with no new deal on the table as of yet.

Lingard is one of the lowest paid players in the current squad and is looking to be rewarded with a deal that will boost his earnings with his current deal due to expire at the end of next season.

Tottenham are not the only side that are reportedly interested in the versatile midfielder, with Premier League rivals Chelsea and Arsenal also thought to be admirers of the United homegrown academy product.

Lingard was on the scoresheet in United’s EFL Cup triumph over Southampton last month and has already proven capable of scoring in the big matches having netted the winner in their FA Cup win over Crystal Palace last season too.
