Pellegrini wants to reunite with Yaya Toure at West Ham

West Ham are in talks with Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure about a reunion with new manager Manuel Pellegrini, claims The Daily Mail.

Toure will leave City when his current deal expires at the end of the month and is determined to continue playing in the Premier League.

The former Ivory Coast international is targeting one of the top six clubs in the Premier League in order to continue playing in Europe.

Toure even refused to rule out joining Manchester United but no top-six side are expected to come forward with any interest.

Marseille have also been linked with a move for the 35-year-old, but West Ham are in talks for former Barcelona midfielder.

Toure would have to take a significant wage cut in order to join the Hammers, as Pellegrini’s side will not match his current £220,000-a-week salary.

However, West Ham believe Pellegrini could be their trump card in negotiations, having previously worked with Toure at City.

Toure produced the best football of his career during Pellegrini’s time at the Etihad and the prospect of a reunion could work in West Ham’s favour during talks.

The veteran midfielder finished Pellegrini’s first season in charge of City (2013/14) as the third top scorer in the Premier League, netting an astonishing tally of 20 goals from midfield.
